I just received my calling as the Personal Progress Advisor for the Young Womens group in my church. As you know, I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints back in May and haven’t been happier! I couldn’t wait for the day that I would learn what my calling is.
One thing that is so great (and different) about the church is that every member serves in some way. (There is not a paid clergy.) I received a messaged from a gentleman in our bishopric saying that he wanted to speak with me and my husband about my calling. We scheduled a time to chat with the Bishop on a Saturday evening.
All day on Saturday I prayed about my calling.
I prayed that whatever the Lord wanted me to do, that I would do it well. I prayed that I would be able to be an example for others and help lead people to Jesus. I felt so strongly that day that I would be working with the Young Womens group. I knew it was the Spirit that had given me those feelings.
I later found out that I was called to serve in Young Womens being their Personal Progress Advisor.
I wasn’t really sure exactly what I was going to do. I have yet to learn what each role in the church does.
However, I knew that I was going to use Pinterest to help guide me in coming up with ideas to motivate the YW to stay on track with their Personal Progress.
I don’t know most of the YW so I decided to type them a letter and questionnaire to get to know them better. Here is what I came up with:
(If you would like to use the questionnaire you can download it HERE.)I feel blessed and honored to be able to work with YW. I remember how tough it was being 12-18 years old. So much is happening and I want to be a positive influence in these girls’ lives! ♥
Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.
