The Bills Binder: Easiest way to track, pay and organize bills!

***Update: I now use a super cute calendar that you can use too. Go here to download your own! I hope to do another updated post with new pictures in the future.***

I recently posted about how I {attempt to} stay organized. I thought it might be beneficial for some of you if I went into detail about my Bills Binder.

Let me say this again… this was NOT my idea. I found it somewhere online. I have NO idea where. If you are reading this and this is your idea PLEASE let me know so I can give you credit! ;)

For the longest time I had no real system for keeping up with the bills. It was chaotic. I did have a filing system for paid bills but I ended up creating piles of paid bills that needed to be filed instead of actually filing them.
This is my Bills Binder. :)
clip_image001[6]
Here is what I used for this organizational tool…
2 inch binder
2 pkgs of dividers with write on tabs
1-5 clear sheet protectors
1 fine point Sharpie marker
1 -3 hole punch
clip_image002[6]clip_image003[6]
The Bills Binder is such a simple method…it’s quick and efficient!
Now you don’t have to be as specific as I am with the dividers but it works for me. I don’t look for the word electricity…I look for the name of the company because it’s what is in my hand at the moment. :)
When bills arrive, I open them up and stick them in the front pocket of the binder labeled “Need to pay”.clip_image004[6]
As each bill is paid, I sometimes write paid or the conformation number and sometimes I don’t. It just depends on my mood. hahaha. Then I punch the bill with the hole punch and put it in the right section. I then cross the bill off of the calendar so I know it’s paid!
And then I put the binder away.
That's it.
No filing. None. Nada.
During tax time, I clean out the binder and keep a years worth of paid bills in a filing box. Just to be safe. I have that fear that a company will turn around and say I never paid something. I’m a dork.
Beyond the dividers I keep a few clear sheet protectors and I put random things in there that I need to keep up with. Classroom purchase receipts. Large item purchase receipts. Voters registration card. Etc.
In the very back pocket of the binder I keep our personal property tax documents and assessing documents. That honestly helps me to remember to assess and pay those darn taxes!
And I like the simplicity of the calendar pages in the front for tracking. It seriously makes it all super easy. I love to have a monthly lay out view. clip_image005[6]
I’m sure you can find printable calendar pages online that are similar to mine. I said in a previous post that I just make a copy of the calendar that I keep on my fridge. (I found our “family” calendar that it on the fridge at Wal Mart!)
I hope if you hate filing, like me, you find this method a little more helpful in rounding up those pesky bills. Also, if you have a personality like mine then this binder will make you happy. If you don’t have a personality like mine…then this binder might help you get organized and you may hate it but I really hope that it’s beneficial for you like it is for me!
**Also, just in case you thought I wasn’t aware…YES, I realized that I did not blur my company bill names. I know maybe that’s too much info out there but honestly, they are mainly student loan companies and BLESS YOU if you don’t owe them any money. Just don’t try to stalk me. ;)**
How do you organize your bills? Is it working? Do you have any questions about my system? Do you have any suggestions for my system?? I love to get feedback!

Healthy Breakfast Shakes

Hey y’all!

So I have been loving my chocolate Shaklee 180 shakes that I make for breakfast. They are super quick and easy! And I enjoy the taste (which is key)!

When I got my chocolate Cinch shake mix, I also purchased the vanilla as well. I tried the vanilla once and I wasn't sure that I liked it very well. So this past weekend I thought I would give it a whirl again and oh my goodness! It was fabulous! So I thought I would share with you how I made it…

Here is what you will need:

-Shaklee 180 Vanilla Smoothee Mix

-Milk (I use 2%, the pkg recommends Soy for better weight loss results!)

-Strawberries

-Blueberries

-Food Processor/Blender

Okay here we go…

1. Get your materials. :) I’m really bad about not knowing which season produces which fruit but I always smell strawberries to know if they are good or not. I probably look crazy sniffing the boxes of strawberries at the store but I know that sweet smell tells me that they are going to be good! :) IMG_7579c

Also, I have found a new love for blueberries. I used to never really like them. I did like blueberry flavored things but not the berries themselves. I don’t know what has changed but I LOVE them. I can sit and eat them forever.

2. Now you need to measure out 1 cup of milk and 1 scoop of Cinch shake mix. Then add them to your blender/food processor. I used my processor because I already had it out (making baby food) and just cleaned well before I mixed the shake. I didn’t want to get something else out to have to clean later. Smart, right? ;) **If you noticed…I really really really need a new measuring cup!**

3. Next, you will clean your strawberries and blueberries. You will also cut off the stems of the strawberries. Sorry to disappoint you but I don’t have any pictures of me cutting the stems off. I’m pretty sure I am not that talented…to hold a camera in one hand and snap a picture of me cutting strawberries with only one hand.

Anyway, you will then add your cut up strawberries to your milk and shake mixture. Then the blueberries. I honestly just eyeballed this. I don’t know how much to tell you to add. Just add to your liking. :)

4. Then turn that machine on! And watch the magic! {haha}

5. Add to your favorite college football team tervis tumbler! ;) A cup will work too! IMG_7596cIMG_7597c

My favorite things about this shake are:

-It keeps me full until lunch because it is packed with 24g of protein!

-It has TONS of nutrients!

-It tastes good! ;)

-It aids in weight loss!

What breakfast things are you eating that are healthy too?? I would love to hear your recipes!

If you are interested in purchasing some of the Shaklee Smoothee mix please feel free to leave a comment or email! :)

What gets YOU out of bed every morning?

These three people get ME out of bed every morning…and I don’t mean literally. ;)

This was really a tough question for me. I thought to myself, what DOES get me out of bed? At first I really didn’t know…I just get out of bed because I have to. Then when I started thinking a little deeper about it, I realized how much of an impact these three people have on my life. Including getting out of bed.

My husband continually works hard for our family and my job is to show him appreciation.IMG_7222cAnd my kids…

Well, they NEED me. And I NEED them. They help me to be a better person. They motivate me to do what’s best for them and for myself.IMG_7425cIMG_7464c

Have you taken the time to think about what gets YOU out of bed each morning?

It may not be your husband or your kids. It could be something completely different like your own parents or your best friend who needs you or your job which affects so many lives.

Think about it. :)
