Guest Post: DIY Potluck Recipe Holder

Today one of my dear friends Kayli from Head Over Heels Design is going to share an awesome DIY project here on my blog! We have been friends since MIDDLE SCHOOL. Crazy, huh?! She still resides in our  home state of Texas and you know what they say about Texas right?! Everything is BIGGER, well guys, Kayli has the biggest heart ever and I love her to pieces. Her and the Mr. just recently bought a house and she has been doing lots of DIY projects and making the house super cute! Go check her out! :)

Hey y'all! I'm so honored to be sharing a fun and useful DIY project here at Building a House of Love!
So I am a BIG fan of potluck dinners. I mean, who wouldn't be? It's like a taste testing party, and I've scored some of my favorite recipes of all time from them....by literally stalking out little old ladies and begging for recipes! So, inevitably, when I recreate them for my shindigs, I always get asked for the recipe...and never have a pen or paper. OR I always get asked "WHAT is that?" :)
SO, I decided to create a potluck dish marker and recipe holder in one! It is so super simple, and I'll show you how to do it!

What you'll need:Chalkboard spray paint (love this stuff...about $7 at Hobby Lobby)
Clothespins
Rectangular Wood Shapes ( 2.5 x 3.5...4 piece pack from Hobby Lobby)
White paint Pin (regular point)
Glue Gun
Index card-size copies of your fave recipe
Delish food in a serving bowl or dish

1.) Spray chalkboard paint on both sides of the rectangular shapes. I chose chalkboard so you can easily reuse this....also I'm currently obsessed with chalkboard!

2.) Draw a decorative border with a paint pen. ( I just free-handed something whimsical, but if you don't feel comfortable with that, draw with a pencil first.)

3.) Place clothespins in opposite directions at the edge of the side that will be the bottom. Hot glue in place.

4.) Place recipe copies in the clothespin facing upward first, then clip onto your yummy potluck dish.
5.) Serve & enjoy!

If you don't want to share your mama's secret recipe, it looks cute just on its own. But if you want to be real generous, give it as a gift clipped to a pretty new dish with some special recipes.

Wow, now I'm hungry! Hope you enjoy! Thanks again for having me, Katie!
XOXO- Kayli
