Teacher Gift

So as I was sulking over the fact that I won’t be teaching this year, I decided to make use of my time at home to do something small for some of my teacher friends at my old school. I can’t take credit for this because I saw the wording somewhere on Pinterest. Of course. :)

I was shopping with my bestie, Taylor, at the mall and we stumbled into Bath and Body Works. I picked up a few of those travel size lotions in a new scent that is oh-so-yummy!DSC00003

I thought it was too cute! I really do hope their new school years go smoothly. If you would like this printable that I created, just leave a comment to let me know!

I finished it…

My dear friend Emily at Craziness is Heaven has a love for sunflowers and I offered to make her a new blog header, because 1) I like to practice and 2) I heart her. So here it is…Her new header…What do you think?

In other news, I am officially starting my masters degree next week. I have signed up for 2 courses that I need: Foundations of Literacy and Historical Foundations of Modern Education. I’m excited about the first one…not so much on the second one. Considering going back to school for your Masters? Don’t do it at the U of A…or just be prepared… $1100 for one course. Eeeek. I’m not sure this whole staying home and working on the masters is helping out debt situation. :) I will be subbing on the side (if I get calls) and I recently joined the Scentsy team. (recently as in yesterday) I love the products and I am super excited to be selling something on the side…mainly for fun because I don’t know how much income it will actually bring in. I’m not much of a sales person but I thought I would give it a shot because I need something else to do. (Seriously? As if a newborn, 2 grad classes, and subbing wasn’t enough…I’m nuts.) It is Friday! Happy Weekend y’all!

Happy One Month Miss Audrey!

Has it really already been a whole month? Time has flown by so quickly but yet it seems like you have been with us forever now.

You turned one month last Friday but I am just now doing a blog post because today you had your one month doctor visit at 9:15 this morning!IMG_5629c

You are up to 8 lbs. 1 oz. now. Your lowest weight was 5 lbs. 9 oz. so you have gained nearly 3 lbs. in just three weeks. Awesome!

You are also now 21 inches long! You started at 17.75 at birth. Your doctor is so proud of your little growth spurt!

You are still in newborn diapers and some newborn clothes. (You quickly out grew preemie clothes.) You still have a ton of cute dresses and clothes that are sized as newborn but are still big and baggy on you.

You are a very vocal baby, Audrey! You grunt and “baaa” like a sheep, a lot! But you also make the cutest little coo’s while you are eating. It’s really pretty darn sweet. Thankfully, you only cry when you are hungry. Speaking of eating…you are doing great nursing every 2-3 hours. You hit a growth spurt around 3 weeks and nursed every hour and a half for a day or so. It was short lived, thank goodness! {I pretty much LOVE your feet. So cute.}

My goodness Audrey, you have yet to understand the love that we all have for you. Your daddy is hooked. I can’t get over your preciousness. Auntie Taylor comes to visit you almost every day on her lunch break. Nana Joyce has been the first person to babysit you. Your GG loves your little sounds. Tryp wants you to play with him and watch movies wit him. Your Granny loves to hold you and squeeze you tight. Your cousins want to hold you and kiss you lots. IMG_5638c

You make the cutest faces while you are sleeping and always smile. You love to straighten out your legs and stick them straight up in the air. It’s quite cute. Some of your nicknames right now are: baby Audrey, princess, sister, baby girl, sweet girl, lil “aud” and baby sheep. IMG_5642c

You still haven’t lost your umbilical cord stump thingy. The doc seems to think it’s okay and you will here within the next few days. We can’t wait to give you a REAL bath instead of washcloth baths. You still look like your daddy 100%. You seriously do not have any of my features…except you do have my pinky toe!

IMG_5640You may be our last child so I’m trying not to wish away time. I get emotional thinking I will never get to have another itty bitty but then I think about how much we went through just to get you here. That helps me remember that I don’t want to have another risky pregnancy. You are such an amazing baby that I could have several more of you. You are such a blessing. We love you princess!

I’ve been making blog headers…

So you can see my own..which I’ve been making for a while. Yes, even the boring ones were made by me. :)

I just wanted to share the ones I’ve made because I’ve had TONS of fun doing it for close friends.

I’m currently working on one for my friend Emily at Craziness is Heaven. I hope to have it done in the next couple of days.

On another note. I have to find my immunization records, I can’t register for my classes at the U of A until I can prove that I have had 2 doses of the MMR vaccination. :( Guess I better start searching.

Nobody said life was easy…

I wish life was easy.

I know I’m wasting my time wishing. While I was pregnant I was positive that I wanted to stay home with Audrey. She was going to be born so close to the start of the school year and I just *knew* that I wanted to be home with her. I felt that way about Tryp so I was positive that I would feel the same about her. Wrong. Maybe I’m crazy but having a second child is completely different than the first. I love her to pieces but I can honestly say that I am not looking forward to being a stay at home mom.

I love my job. I love teaching. I worked so hard to get to where I am/was. It took me 6.5 years to get a Bachelors degree because I had to work while I attended school.

I personally feel like I will be a better mom if I was working instead of being home. I won’t be stressing about financials because we all know that one income doesn’t quite cut it now-a-days. So my thoughts were to go back to school to work on my masters degree. Which is another goal of mine. As I thought about it though…I just can’t justify putting our family into $20,000 more debt while I stay home.

Of course now that I’ve made the decision to head back to teaching, the job opportunities are slim pickens. And it seems like the principals are looking for individuals with Masters degrees. Of course.

I keep trying to get advice from other people about my “situation” but it doesn’t help. Most people say I should enjoy staying home. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard “they are only little once” a million times. I understand that too. I love the baby days and watching them learn all the new things…rolling over, smiling, cooing, crawling, eating, drooling, etc. At the same time in my mind I keep thinking I can offer my family so much more by working.

On another note, I’ve been moving forward with the whole masters degree thing because getting a job seems impossible right now. So I’ve decided to get my Masters in Elementary Education with a focus in Reading. (unless of course I land a job at the last minute) I want to get an additional license as a Reading Specialist. Of course the state requires certain courses to be taken…what would you know that the U of A isn’t offering ANY of those courses this fall. So I would basically be taking one course required for the degree and two “extra” courses which would be good to have but lets be realistic…why do I want to pay graduate fees for courses not required for my focus. Ugh. Oh wait, let me add that those courses that I would be taking that are “extra” are in the evenings and I would have to find childcare because Hank works evenings. Ugh again.

I’m not really sure WHAT the heck I’m doing. I’m just hoping something works out. Nobody said life was easy…but nobody said it was this hard either! I’ll end this crummy post with a picture of our princess… gosh I love her!
