Meet The Teacher

2.02.2011

One of my favorite blogs The First Grade Parade is having a link up party. A "meet the teacher" party. Even though my blog is not about my teaching adventures (yet) it is still about me and my family and I am a teacher. :)
So let the fun begin. About me...
There I am! I'm 25 and although I'm not much of a "believer" in astrology. I am a Sagittarius to a T. IF you happen to be curious you could look up some of the characteristics. They sure do make me seem like a bad person though. :) I was born and raised in Garland, Texas. At the lovely age of 15 my mom and step dad decided to move to a little town called Eureka Springs, Arkansas. I now live about 45 minutes from Eureka in a city called Springdale. I just got married to the most wonderful man in the world in October (2010). He works for the Springdale Police Department and does a great job protecting the city!
We met through some mutual friends and it was a blind date that went GREAT! :) I have a three year old son from a previous marriage, his name is Tryp. I am also expecting a baby this August!
I am currently in my first year of teaching. Sixth grade Social Studies and Reading. I am eager to switch to a lower grade such as 1st or 2nd.(We shall see what the future holds) I did not think I would want to teach lower elementary but I enjoyed lower elementary content during college and internship. I graduated from the University of Arkansas.
Woo Pig Sooie!
I have one older brother who is nearly 10 years older than me, he resides in San Fransisco California. I love that fact because I can take vacations to visit him. I've been there once and LOVED it! :)
Now for the Q & A

Q: What would you be doing if you weren’t a teacher?
A:  I would probably be a labor and delivery nurse. I love babies!

Q: What are your hobbies?
A:  I have a lot. Scrapbooking (subsiding), knitting, crocheting, blogging, blog stalking, sewing, photography, painting, four wheeling, mountain biking. I'm sure there are others...

Q: When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A:  A teacher of course! :)

Q: What are your guilty pleasures?
A: I love Chips Ahoy cookies dipped in milk. I've been doing pretty good and avoiding those (mainly so I don't have another 10lb baby), Teen Mom, 16 & Pregnant, and cheese covered french fries.

Q: What is your biggest fear?!
A: Death. Not necessarily mine but others, like people I'm really close to.

Q: When you’re on vacation, where do you like to go?
A: A beach. I would say any beach but Galveston's beach is not that pretty. I love crystal clear/blue water. So my favorite would be anywhere in the Caribbean! I really want to see lots of places though that do not have a beach!

Q: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
A:  Think before you speak. This has been the best advice for ME and my personality. :) I'm almost too honest. eeek.

Q: What do you value most in others?
A:  Honesty and positivity for sure.

Q: If you could choose one of your personality traits to pass down to your kids, what would it be?
A: My love to be happy. Truly happy. I want my kids to be able to find those things that make them happy and really go for it. :)

Q: If you could have lunch with anyone in the world….living or dead…who would it be?
A:  I think everyone says Jesus but I really would like to have lunch with him. I would also like to have lunch with the ladies who wrote Daily 5 and CAFE. Gail Boushey and Joan Moser. Would love to pick their brains for a lunch hour. :)
Now tell us one random thing about yourself:
Just one?
How about a few...
I judge people by their feet. (If I see them of course)
It's almost as if you don't have nice clean feet then your not a clean person. This is totally not always true but I get people vibes based on feet. haha. Random.
I can't wait till we get our farm and have piggies! :)
I can never finish a hobby. I start it and leave it and start another one. I go back and forth between projects.
